I chose family medicine for the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population and the special doctor patient relationship that can span years. I am especially excited to start my training at the University of Chicago Family Medicine residency. The program’s unique “Clinic First” curriculum will allow me to have more outpatient experience which aligns with my interests. I could also instantly sense the strong bond between the residents. In the midst of a global pandemic and so much uncertainty, the faculty and residents have already made me feel so welcome and supported.
I was born and raised in the area, and I could not be happier that I will be starting my residency so close to home. Outside of medicine, I love cooking and trying new recipes. I am also a huge Chicago sports fan- Go Bears, Bulls and Cubs!!!

I chose University of Chicago to complete my Family Medicine training because of the wonderful staff and faculty, camaraderie I felt with the current residents, and for the opportunity to return to my home in the Midwest. I have spent the previous 9 years in a variety of cities in Tennessee, where I worked as a high school teacher and songwriter, and in Spartanburg, South Carolina where I completed my internship in General Surgery. I studied biology and music as an undergraduate student at Indiana University, and received my medical degree from University of Tennessee. I am very excited to join the team in Chicago and continue learning and growing as a new physician.

I decided to pursue a career in family medicine after my experiences as a member of the National Health Corps-Chicago, through which I became passionate about patient education, preventative medicine, and forming enduring patient relationships. I chose the University of Chicago NorthShore program for the exceptional training opportunities, particularly at Erie Evanston/Skokie Health Center, as well as the nurturing environment created by the residents and faculty.
In my free time, I love hanging out with my loved ones and pets. I have played violin since the third grade and I am an avid orchestra participant. In addition, I am a former collegiate swimmer and have nearly a decade of swim coaching experience!

I chose family medicine because I valued continuity of care and the patient-physician relationship above all else. I also loved the fact that I could be involved in all stages of my patients’ care. I knew University of Chicago was the right fit for me when my career interests, being slightly unorthodox, were met with great support and enthusiasm from faculty and residents. I felt that the program would offer excellent training and a supportive learning environment.
I am originally from California, but went to medical school in Chicago and felt like I wasn’t done with the city yet! I consider myself an avid traveler, spending most of my free time planning my next big trip. I also enjoy watching movies, playing my ukulele, and exploring the town!

Hi everyone! I graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Kinesiology and then took post-baccalaureate classes at Georgetown University before attending Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine. After the AAFP conference in Kansas City, my interaction with the University of Chicago representatives stuck with me through the following months. During my interview, I found an environment that matched who I am as a person, a 2x2 curriculum that will enhance continuity of care, and faculty that are supportive of my varied interests in Sports Medicine, Palliative Medicine, medical education, and actively serving the community.
Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending quality time with my husband, walking my dog, keeping current on Athletic Training practices, and watching documentaries/docuseries.

I chose this program due to its excellent academics, emphasis on providing high quality evidence based medical care to all and caring for the diverse community in Evanston and the surrounding areas. The faculty, staff and residents exude positivity that inspires inquiry, constant improvement and growth.

I was attracted to UChicago's family medicine program because it offers a variety of tracks and has a very strong academic background with a community focus. Family medicine is an important piece of improving patient care in the US health system and I wanted to be part of a program that was going to give me as much support as possible to be in the forefront of change and growth in primary care.
I am originally from Georgia and am looking forward to exploring Chicagoland and its food! my hobbies outside medicine include Pilates, piano, baking, cooking, and shopping.

I chose Family Medicine because of the diversity of patient population I get to interact with and the long-term relationships I get to build. I fell in love with family medicine during my medical school rotation at an FQHC and was ecstatic to hear that this program has one too! I also love the emphasis on working with the underserved population and the pediatric experience. On top of that, I had a great time at my interview as everyone was super welcoming!
In my free time I enjoy baking, trying new restaurants, and spending time with my loved ones. I am really looking forward to exploring the city of Chicago, enjoy the lakefront, eat amazing food and create new memories.

One of the reasons that I chose the University of Chicago Northshore program was because I felt that it would give me excellent training and a diverse range of experiences to help develop me into the physician that I hope to become. Additionally, during my visit I felt that the faculty and residents were all very nice and supportive.
I am originally from California but came to Chicago for medical school and decided I wanted to stay for residency. Outside of medicine, I enjoy weightlifting, spending time with friends, and exploring new restaurants.

I chose to pursue family medicine because I enjoy the long term relationships you can form with patients, the emphasis on preventative care, the community feel, and the variety of pathology and patient populations. I am specifically interested in women's health and working with the underserved populations and UofC seemed like the perfect place to pursue these interests. The program is so supportive of its residents and the variety of tracks allow residents to tailor their education to their individual interests. In my free mie, I enjoy trying new foods, exploring Chicago, doing Crossfit, and hanging out with friends and family.

I was excited to choose University of Chicago because I knew that my goal of pursing full spectrum family medicine would be supported. I am thrilled to joined this program for its blend of academic rigor with the down to earth, supportive environment.

I am excited for the clinic first curriculum as it will provide a great opportunity for continuity of care while in residency. I am interested in medical education, pediatrics, integrative medicine and nutrition. In my free time I enjoy working out, biking and exploring the Chicago area, cheering on Wisconsin (GO BADGERS!!!), cooking, trying new foods, traveling and spending time with friends and family.

The most important aspect of choosing a Family Medicine Residency program are the people and fit. In addition to meeting many wonderful people, the University of Chicago Northshore Program provides the opportunity for me to pursue my many interests. What is most appealing to me is the opportunity to participate in various tracks such as integrative medicine, underserved medicine, geriatrics and palliative care. I am also excited to be a part of an academic program that incorporates scholarly activities into the curriculum in areas such as population health and quality improvement. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, trying out new foods, reading science-fiction novels and karaoke. I am looking forward to exploring the city of Chicago!

I chose Family Medicine because I would like to serve patients across the age spectrum and am particularly interested in primary care, preventative health and community-focused care. The University of Chicago Family Medicine Program was an ideal fit for me because of its strong academic training and warm, collaborative culture. I am also interested in working with the underserved, so the program's focus on working with low-income patients was particularly important to me. In addition, I am passionate about research and policy advocacy related to access to care for underserved communities - and would like this to be a part of my career long term.
In my free time, I like exploring Chicago's zoos, museums, neighborhoods and parks with my wife and our son. I also love playing and watching basketball and spending time by the lake (when it is not too frigid).

One of the main reasons I chose University of Chicago NorthShore was because of the effort the faculty put into the mentoring process even when I was an applicant. I felt that this program provided the best opportunity to pursue both clinical training and my interests in health policy and advocacy. The residents were very welcoming and had a wide variety of academic and extracurricular interests. Growing up in Illinois I always wanted to live in or near Chicago, so the program's location is perfect for me. In my free time I enjoy weight training, mud runs, tennis, snowboarding and discovering new cultures through reading, music, dance and travel.

Family medicine is the perfect fit for me, so the decision to become one came naturally. It allows me to interact with so many different individuals of varying ages who all have unique stories. I chose this field because of the opportunity to build lasting relationships based on informative dialogue.
Particularly, I chose to train at UC because of its strong academic backing, nurturing staff, and friendly residents. I know this program will afford me the opportunities to grow into the physician I want to become.
I really enjoy living in the Chicago area and being near to family. I love being outdoors-biking or hiking and finding new places to eat.

As a Chicagoland native, I sought a program that was both close to home and would allow me to channel my diverse interest in Family Medicine. These interests include Sports Medicine, Integrative Medicine, and an exposure to work with underserved communities, all of which are all provided by this program within a collaborative curriculum. Moreover, after having an opportunity to meet and engage with the faculty, staff, and residents of this program, I was comforted to learn about the positive and collegial atmosphere that support and encourage the pursuit of my ambitions.
Outside of Medicine, I have a passion for fitness and exercise, plus enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also love exploring the city of Chicago and relishing the wonderful food it has to offer.
