Welcome from Program Director:
I am so glad you have chosen to learn more about the University of Chicago (NorthShore) Family Medicine Residency. Our mission is to develop compassionate, culturally competent Family Physicians who are team leaders in the provision of continuous, patient-centered, comprehensive, cost-conscious health care for individuals, families and communities and who advocate for vulnerable populations and understand the social determinants of health.
I am a product of the incredible training programs here in Chicago, and as Program Director of the University of Chicago (NorthShore) Family Medicine Residency, I am proud to work alongside some of the smartest, most dedicated, and talented faculty in the area. Our faculty is broadly trained and practice in full scope Family Medicine. We each have our own area of expertise, for example in Integrative Medicine, maternity care, research , sports medicine, community medicine and ethics. This translates into the many educational tracks we offer. Click Here. These educational tracks allow residents to explore areas of passion and interest. Our graduates go on to work in FQHCs and medical groups, become academic faculty, and continue on to Sports Medicine, Faculty Development and Obesity Medicine fellowships, among others.
Our outpatient home is the Erie Family Health Center in Evanston, where we serve a diverse population of local and immigrant families. Our patients speak a multitude of languages including Spanish and Arabic among many others. Residents learn first-hand about the impact of health disparities and the social determinants of health, and how to leverage the resources that Erie has to offer. At Erie, we run a procedure clinic, a musculoskeletal clinic, as well as an OMT clinic. Residents also have the opportunity to learn MAT. For inpatient care, we admit to our Family Medicine-run inpatient service at Highland Park Hospitals and we will be moving to Evanston Hospital in this academic year. Our pediatric and maternal care training takes place at Evanston hopsital. For specialty training, residents rotate throughout the NorthShore University Health System, as well as the University of Chicago and Lurie Children's Hospital.
I invite you to explore our website, and we look forward to your application.
