Daniel Kelley, MD
Dr. Dan Kelley grew up in Kirkland, WA, a suburb of Seattle. He attended Occidental College, a D3 school in Los Angeles, CA, where he played baseball and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology. After a year of teaching and coaching baseball in Seattle, Dan came back to Los Angeles to attend the University of Southern California - Keck School of Medicine. While at USC, he met his future wife, Ali, who is now a primary care internal medicine physician in Chicago. Dan completed his family medicine residency at Valley Medical Center / UW Medicine in Renton, WA. As a primary care sports medicine fellow at the University of Chicago / NorthShore University Health System, Dan helps with team coverage for New Trier HS and the University of Chicago athletics.
When he is not listening to medical, war history, or political podcasts, Dan enjoys teaching his son to hit left-handed and throw right-handed, playing golf and slow pitch softball, and watching sports. Dan and his family are thrilled to be in Chicago and are looking forward to starting the next chapter of their lives here.
Priya Nagarajan, DO (She/Her/Hers)

Dr. Priya Nagarajan is originally from the suburbs of Minneapolis, Minnesota. She completed her bachelor’s at Washington University in St. Louis with a degree in Biology and Anthropology. She then received her medical training from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her family medicine residency training at the University of Minnesota North Memorial Program. She received additional training in sports medicine at the University of Chicago NorthShore Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship. She is now very excited to join as faculty at the University of Chicago NorthShore Family Medicine Residency. She is enthusiastic and excited about training residents in primary care, osteopathic manipulation, sports medicine, and musculoskeletal procedures. She is also passionate about lifestyle counseling for her patients regarding nutrition, exercise prescription, and stress management to help optimize their wellbeing. She does her best to meet each patient where they are when offering medical advice. She is humbled to join such an accomplished, hardworking, and compassionate group of faculty and residents that are truly committed to the wellbeing of their patients.
In her free time, she enjoys staying active with yoga, dance, high intensity interval training, and biking around the city. She also enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as exploring new restaurants in the Chicago area.
Valerie Rygiel, DO
Valerie Rygiel, while originally from Michigan, did all of her medical training in the Chicago area including medical school at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University and family medicine residency at Advocate Christ Medical Center. She is a board certified family physician who is doing an extra year of training with University of Chicago/NorthShore in the area of Primary Care Sports Medicine. She has a particular interest in caring for the endurance sports athlete and enjoys participating in the medical planning for the Chicago Marathon each year (when she isn't running it herself!). Dr. Rygiel is an osteopathic physician who offers osteopathic manual therapy to her patients both in the office and on the sidelines. In her free time she enjoys running, rock climbing, and experiencing all of the many food festivals Chicago has to offer.
Melissa Faubert, DO
Dr. Melissa Faubert is board certified in family medicine and has her CAQ in primary care sports medicine. Her undergraduate degree in neuroscience from the University of Wisconsin - Madison has fueled her passion for concussion since the beginning of her educational career. She went on to attend medical school at Midwestern University- Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her family medicine residency at Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL. During her fellowship year at NorthShore/ University of Chicago, Melissa was able to pursue her interest in osteopathic manipulative medicine and concussion, researching if manipulation could speed up recovery from concussion symptoms. Melissa was exposed to a vast amount of pathology during her fellowship year and was awarded podium presentations for her cases at both the AMSSM and ACSM national conferences. In addition, her case highlighting Forearm Pain in a Gymnast was chosen as one of the top 11 cases submitted to also be presented at the ACSM Clinician's Reception in Minneapolis. After completing fellowship, Melissa moved back to the Madison area with her husband and daughter where she is practicing family medicine and sports medicine at Divine Savior Healthcare.
Thomas Moran, MD
Dr. Moran is board certified in Family Medicine as well as Sports medicine by the ABFM. Originally from the southwest side of Chicago he traveled to the University of Colorado for his undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology. It was here that he excelled in both his studies and outdoor education. As an avid skier, climber and kayaker he is familiar with the unique injuries associated with these sports. Following college, he attended medical school at Ross University and in internship at Mayo Clinic - Rochester. He then returned to Chicago for his Family Medicine residency at Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital. Upon completion, he chose to continue his training by completing the primary sports medicine fellowship at University of Chicago-Northshore. He now practices Sports medicine with the NorthShore Medical Group and has offices in Glenbrook, Skokie and downtown Chicago. Beyond work, he enjoys spending time with his family and enjoying outdoor activities from skiing, cycling to open water swimming.
Sean C. Engel, MD
Dr. Engel is board certified in family medicine after completing his medical school at the University of Minnesota and family medicine residency in St. Louis Park, MN at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital, also through the University of Minnesota. However, between medical school and residency he spent time in the United States Navy as an undersea medical officer, where he worked in Norfolk, VA with Navy personnel in the diving and nuclear fields. His interests in sports medicine include injury prevention, evidence based practice for concussion management, and promoting and maintaining activity in patients with comorbidities. He also has a continued interest in diving and dive medicine. Outside of fellowship, Dr. Engel and his family are excited to discover all of the fun activities the Chicago area has to offer.
Sameer Panjwani, MD
Dr. Panjwani is a board certified physician in family medicine. He attended the University of Houston where he studied English Literature and went on to complete his medical education at Kasturba Medical College in India. Dr. Panjwani completed his residency in Family Medicine at the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey following which he stayed on as faculty for two years. He is currently a member of the AAFP and the fellow liaison for the AMSSM Education committee. Dr. Panjwani's patient philosophy is to safely maximize patient's health and function in their chosen activity. His areas of interests include improving musculoskeletal training in graduate medical education, care of athletes with chronic medical conditions and international medicine. Dr. Panjwani loves his new home in Chicago and enjoys spending his time exploring the city with his wife and 3 year old son.
Scott Repa, MD
Dr. Repa is dually board-certified in Family Medicine by the ABFM and ABOFP, and also board-certified by the ABFM with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Primary Care Sports Medicine. After completing his undergraduate degree and playing Division I soccer at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, he went on to medical school at Touro University - California College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then returned to the Midwest to continue his training at the Adventist La Grange Family Medicine Residency in the western suburbs of Chicago before becoming the first fellow at the University of Chicago/NorthShore program. He is now practicing 100% Primary Care Sports Medicine in the greater Twin Cities area, where he works for Fairview Sports and Orthopedic Care. As a proud DO, he still enjoys utilizing Osteopathic Manipulative Therapies (OMT) in the diagnosis and treatment of his patients, and his practice is very busy in part due to his use of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound-guided injections and procedures. When not referring to himself in the third person for biographical blurbs, he is still playing as much soccer and other sports as he can, but his primary athletic commitment is to chasing around his two young daughters. He also enjoys cooking, travel, philosophy, and gushing praise and gratitude for the world-class training he received in fellowship.
