The fellowship's home-base is located at NorthShore University HealthSystem's Glenbrook office. This office is housed within the hospital at the Orthopedic Institute which allows for exposure to a host of specialists and sports physical therapists. The fellow has their own Sports Medicine twice a week. X-ray and musculoskeletal ultrasound are available for the fellow in clinic. This office is also where the Sports Medicine Faculty practices are housed.
In addition, there is orthopedic/sports medicine physical therapy on site which allows the fellow to follow patients through their rehab as well as collaborate with the therapists on a plan of care. The Department also has an Integrative Medicine Program where the fellow can interact with practitioners who provide CAM-type therapies for their patients. This allows for a more holistic approach to the care of the athlete.
While at NorthShore, the fellow will also gain experience with the Sports Health & Performance program at Glenbrook. Here the fellow will participate in the evaluation and management of all levels of athletes, including high school, collegiate, Olympic and professional athletes. Corporate wellness program development and implementation is also emphasized.
