The best part of our program is our incredible community of residents and faculty. With six residents per class, we are a small and tight-knit program. Our wellness committee includes representatives from each class to address resident concerns and wellbeing – they also produce a great monthly newsletter with updates about the program and local events to check out! We have monthly resilience sessions with our behaviorist Dr. Byron Brooks during our afternoon didactics.

Intern Welcome

Intern year begins with a two-week orientation block that includes on-boarding activities, lectures, and simulation blocks. They are each paired with a PGY2 and PGY3 who serve as their “big sib” family throughout residency. Highlights of the orientation block include the annual residency graduation, informal social events with residents, and the traditional intern welcome picnic!

Annual Resident Retreats

The annual residency retreat is all about team building and connection with our coresidents. Faculty cover our inpatient service so that all residents can attend. In recent years, retreat activities have included top golf, bowling, axe throwing – and of course, there is always lots of great food!

In addition to the resident only retreat, we also have a residency wide retreat each year with faculty and staff. In past years, the retreat took place after everyone was vaccinated against COVID-19 and included a Bob Ross style painting session and competitive games including a resident vs. faculty tug-of-war.
