Summer Opportunities

The Summer Service Partnership (SSP) provides an opportunity for rising second-year Pritzker students to work intensively in one of our three partner neighborhoods: South Chicago, Greater Grand Crossing, or Woodlawn. Medical students are paired with high school students from New Millennium School of Health in South Chicago, Gary Comer College Prep in Greater Grand Crossing, and the University of Chicago Charter School in Woodlawn. The partnership provides an opportunity to work with one particular community and create a sustainable service project to make an impact in that neighborhood.

SEARCH program offers community health center experiences
The Student/Resident Experiences and Rotations in Community Health (SEARCH) program is a nationally recognized program, funded by the National Health Service Corps (NHSC), in which qualified health professional students and residents are offered training opportunities at community and migrant health centers (C/MHCs) located in urban and rural underserved areas. A program similar to Summer Externship, the Illinois Primary Health Care Association (IPHCA) SEARCH program, places students and residents in rotations at Community Health Centers throughout Illinois. There is also a stipend for participating in the program, which is open to medical students at any level.

Students and residents can apply year-round for the SEARCH program (Student and Resident Experiences and Rotations in Community Health)

Questions? View the SEARCH website (http://www.iphca.org/Services/SEARCH.aspx)

If you have any other questions or would like to apply, please contact Leola Mitchell, SEARCH student coordinator at (773) 321-0265 or via email at wilahec4@adams.net.
